ALS Courses | Australian Resuscitation Council accredited
We are an ARC accredited course centre for both ALS Level 1 & 2 courses. You can find out more about them on the ARC website.
ALS 1 is a one-day Immediate Life Support workshop. For ALS 1 course dates check the ARC website.
ALS 2 is a two day Advanced Life Support course. It is aimed at doctors and nurses working in critical care environments.

BASIC for NURSES | Basic Assessment and Skills in Intensive Care
BASIC for Nurses covers essential and fundamental aspects of Intensive Care. It is designed as an introduction to Intensive Care for new ICU nurses and is also suitable for nurses working in high dependency units. The course consists of course manual, brief clinically‐based lectures, skill stations and pre‐ and post‐course tests.

Beyond BASIC | Mechanical Ventilation

You will cover how to teach the practical aspects of mechanical ventilation of critically ill patients for intermediate-senior Intensive Care trainees who attend the Beyond BASIC Course. The course consists of course manual, brief clinically-based lectures, skill stations, e-learning and pre- and post-course test.

Beyond BASIC | Nephrology
Instructor Course
Beyond BASIC Intensive Care Nephrology Course (2.5 days) includes one day instructor training and 1.5 days teaching with experienced Beyond BASIC Nephrology Instructors. You will cover how to teach the practical aspects of intensive care of patients with renal diseases and renal dysfunction. Instructor candidates must be Intensives Care or Nephrology Specialists or Fellows. The course consists of course manual, brief clinically-based lectures, skill stations, e-learning and pre- and post-course tests.

Introduction to Echocardiography Workshop
A two-day theoretical and practical hands-on course aiming to familiarise trainees with Focused Cardiac Ultrasound.
The course will cover the FCU CICM Syllabus including:
● Indications, scope of practice
● Patient consent and preparation
● Study archiving and de-identification
● Machine orientation and image optimisation
● Standard acoustic windows and reporting findings
● Left and right ventricular assessment
● Shock states, particularly hypovolaemia and fluid status assessment, and tamponade
● Limitations of the focused study and maintenance of skills
